EUROPE, KEN CLARKE AND FREE TRADE AGREEMENTS

Whatever we think of #Ken Clarke he's entitled to an opinion. And today he suggests that unless the U.K. remains in the #E.U. it can never have a free trade agreement with North America!!  Surely this is a ridiculous assertion ?  Isn't it the other way around, Ken?  While we are in the #E.U. we can't make bilateral agreements!  If we get out, we can.

When I first heard Ken's view I had the feeling, just for a second, this was bad news for those of us hoping to ditch membership of the #E.U. But then I thought how wrong he is.  Let's hope the Eurosceptic, and more accurate view ( bilateral agreements possible when we leave the E.U. ) gets the same amount of publicity.

Do we need to ask why #Ken Clarke made the assertion? Is it a matter of fact, an honest mistake, or an attempt to mislead - or simply an opinion?
